The Children’s Research Network invites applications for the Prevention and Early Intervention Research Grants scheme. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 22nd June 2017.  Further grants will be made available throughout 2017 as more data is deposited with the archives.

This scheme provides small-scale, competitive grants to individuals or teams from any discipline to conduct further exposition of research data that was generated by The Atlantic Philanthropies’ Prevention and Early Intervention Initiative (PEII). Over 10 years, Atlantic invested over €127 million/£105 million in programs throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland that were shown to be effective at providing the support that children and young people need to be healthy, do well in school and to help ensure they have bright futures.

Proposals must fall under at least one of the following areas (listed in order of priority):

  • Secondary analysis of research data that was generated under The Atlantic Philanthropies’ Prevention and Early Intervention Initiative (PEII). Suggested outputs include a publication and/or conference presentation that promotes this data to multiple audiences nationally and internationally.
  • Utilisation of research data that was generated under The Atlantic Philanthropies’ Prevention and Early Intervention Initiative (PEII) to build capacity in Prevention and Early Intervention service development and evaluation. Suggested outputs include a training event, seminar or workshop.

The above list is not exhaustive and applicants are encouraged to be creative. The PEII data may be accessed via the public data archives or via the original evaluation team.

Grants will be up to €10,000 (or GBP equivalent) and it is expected that the work will be completed within six months from receipt of the grant. Applications for grants higher than €10,000 will be considered where a strong case is made.
