Blackboard service ending 1st September 2019
Fri, 9 August 19
The University is in the final stages of transitioning to a new virtual learning environment, Brightspace. In order to facilitate a smooth transition, the contract with Blackboard was extended by an additional year, this extension officially ends on 1st September 2019, in line with the end of the current academic year.
From the 1st September 2019, no further access to the Blackboard virtual learning environment or any content remaining on the Blackboard platform will be possible. This end date also applies to the following associated services: Safe Assign, Mahara, and WebPA.
Going forward, the following services will replace the current Blackboard environment elements:
- Urkund (Originality Checker) replaces SafeAssign
- ePortfolio replaces Mahara
- A peer assessment solution trial is ongoing, to find a suitable replacement for WebPA
