SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMME

The UCD John Hume Institute hosts the UCD International Summer School. The Summer School has been running at UCD since 1948. Each year it provides an introduction to aspects of Irish history, culture and society to a group of international students. The programme features lectures and seminars led by leading researchers and specialists. The programmes are research led and cross disciplinary in focus.

The 2007 Summer School programme looked at modern Ireland through the prism of its Foreign Policy and external relations.

The 2008 Summer School programme took as its theme “Shared Histories” and examined the history of inward economic migration into Ireland and the process of social integration from the Plantations of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries up to the present day.

The programme for the 2009 Summer School will be announced in January.
