Dr Alberto Ravagnani has been selected to receive the Prix Nexans in 2017

Dr Alberto Ravagnani has been selected to receive the Prix Nexans in 2017, awarded by the Cultural Fund of Nexans Switzerland and the University of Neuchatel. The prize will be presented to him at a ceremony in the University on Dec 20 2017. The Prix Nexans is awarded to researchers scientifically connected to the University of Neuchatel with exceptionally promising careers.

Dr Ravagnani has been awarded a Marie Curie-Sklodowska fellowship to work with Dr Eimear Byrne and the Applied Algebra group of the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Prior to coming to UCD, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Toronto, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. He was awarded a PhD in Mathematics in 2016 from the University of Neuchatel, for which he was awarded the Pasquier-Perrier prize. Prix Nexans

Institué par le Fonds culturel de Nexans Suisse SA, ce prix encourage la carrière de personnes particulièrement douées ou talentueuses, dans le domaine des sciences. Il est généralement décerné à de jeunes chercheurs en lien avec l'UniNE. Le bénéficiaire du prix doit être de préférence, mais non obligatoirement, de nationalité suisse. Le prix est en règle générale attribué à une seule personne. Il peut exceptionnellement être partagé par deux bénéficiaires ou être attribué à une équipe de chercheurs. Ce prix est décerné par tournus entre les différentes Facultés de l'UniNE. La remise du prix a lieu à l'occasion d'un événement distinct organisé par la Faculté.

Established by the Cultural Fund of Nexans Switzerland Ltd, the purpose of this award is to boost careers of particularly talented people in the field of science. It is usually awarded to young researchers in connection with UniNE. The beneficiary of the prize must preferably be, but not necessarily, of Swiss nationality. The prize is usually awarded to one person only. It can exceptionally be shared by two beneficiaries or be awarded to a team of researchers. This prize is awarded by turns between the different UniNE faculties. The award ceremony takes place during a separate event organized by the Faculty.
