The 6th scientific meeting of the Irish Network of Medical Educators (INMED) will take place from Thursday 21st February to Friday 22nd February 2013 at University College Dublin (UCD). The theme of this year’s conference will be Patient-Centred Medical Education: Human Factors, Patient Safety, Learning from Patients.
INMED 2013 saw a record number of abstract submissions from throughout the island of Ireland: Download the abstract book.
INMED is also offering, for the first time, a pre-conference workshop day in collaboration with the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME - UK) on Wednesday February 20th. The idea of the workshop day is to provide delegates with longer format workshops that provide adequate time to develop new teaching skills and knowledge.
INMED’s overall objective is to enhance medical education on the island of Ireland by bringing together individuals and organisations with interests and responsibilities in healthcare education. This conference is a scientific meeting for everyone involved in education of healthcare professionals and provides an opportunity to report and hear about educational research and developments in Ireland and overseas.
The main conference days will be composed of a series of themed keynote symposia, faculty development workshops, oral and poster research presentations and panel discussions. Keynote speeches for the 2013 conference will be delivered by:
- Dr Lynn Monrouxe, Director of Medical Education Research at Cardiff University Institute of Medical Education
- Professor Charlotte Rees, Director of the Centre for Medical Education at University of Dundee
- Mrs Margaret Murphy, Member of the Steering Group of the Patients for Patient Safety strand of the WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety
- Professor Eilis McGovern, National Programme Director for Medical Training in the HSE
On the eve of Thursday, 22nd February, a wine reception and gala dinner event will take place in Dublin's oldest restaurant, Beaufield Mews.
