Berkeley Tragedy | Message to Students
Message to our Students from the Dean of Medicine
It is with great sadness that I confirm the heart-breaking news that two of our Stage 3 UCD Medicine students, Eimear Walsh and Lorcán Miller, were among the six students who lost their lives in the tragedy that occurred in Berkeley, California yesterday. May they Rest in Peace. Several other students were physically injured and remain hospitalised, and many others have been deeply affected by this event. Our sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with all of the young victims of this disaster and their families and friends.
You will have just received a communication from Deputy Registrar Prof. Bairbre Redmond, with important information concerning UCD supports that are available to you. In addition to the UCD events and supports highlighted by Prof. Redmond, please see below a number of other UCD suggested contacts for assistance in coping with the recent tragedy in Berkeley.

It is important that we in the UCD School of Medicine community support each other, and particularly Eimear and Lorcán’s classmates, during this very difficult time.
Please do not hesitate to ask for support from the School at any time.

Dean of Medicine and Head of School
