IEHG (Ireland East Hospital Group) is the largest of Ireland’s hospital groups. IEHG comprises 11 hospitals (six voluntary and five statutory hospital) and spans eight counties and works with four Community Healthcare Organisation (CHO) partners.

In collaboration with the Group’s Academic Partner, UCD, IEHG’s ambition is to be the national leader in healthcare delivery,  working to improve the quality of healthcare and deliver better patient outcomes through education, training, research and innovation for the one+ million people we serve.

Professor Tim Lynch is Chief Academic Officer of IEHG and Vice Principal of UCD Health Affairs. Prof Lynch is a Consultant Neurologist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH). He is also Director of the Dublin Neurological Institute (DNI) at the MMUH, Professor of Neurology at UCD and Clinical Investigator at the Conway Institute, UCD. Please see https://www.iehg.ie/

Health Affairs was established in 2018 and forms part of the College of Health and Agricultural Sciences. The Health Affairs Office works with the health science schools to provide a formal channel for cooperation and collaboration between the Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG) and UCD, its primary academic partner.  This includes developing and implementing the strategic vision and direction for healthcare education, research and innovation across the group and ultimately the successful creation of an Academic Health Science System. The successful IEHG and UCD collaboration builds on the work of the Dublin Academic Medical Centre.
