Audition Information Spring 2024
Auditions for the performing groups are held in the first and second week of each semester term (after orientation week). All students who have experience in their chosen ensemble are welcome to audition.
Students DO NOT register for the module until AFTER they have passed the audition.
Once you have submitted your audition form (UCD Choral Scholars), you will be contacted by the module co-ordinator with your audition time. For specific requirements please see the individual ensemble.
Philharmonic Choir
Rehearsal Time: Tuesdays at 18:00 – rehearsals recommence on Tuesday, 23rd January.
Auditions for Spring term will take place in January. We offer the option of video submission or live audition.
- Live auditions will take place on Friday, 26th of January between 12-2pm. Please email amy.ryan@ucd.ie to request an audition slot.
- Submission deadline for video auditions: Friday, 26th January at 5pm.
Audition Instructions
Audition videos should contain three elements:
- Range test
- Prepared sight-singing
- Unaccompanied performance of a short song/excerpt of a song of your choice, no longer than one minute.
This video will lead you through the audition process: we recommend that you listen to it as you record your video.
Once you have recorded your video, upload it to Youtube, ensure it is unlisted, and then complete the application form adding the link to your video where prompted.
Deadline: Friday, 26th January at 5pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

Symphony Orchestra
- Rehearsal Time: Mondays at 18:30.
- Audition Dates: First two weeks of the start of term. Dates to be announced on Facebook.

Choral Scholars
Auditions take place in September only. The following is for information purposes only.
- Rehearsal Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 18:00 (subject to change).
- Audition Dates to be announced on Facebook.
- Apply for an audition via the UCD Service Portal Scholarship Applications.

Gamelan Orchestra
- Rehearsal Times: Wednesdays at 17:00.
- No audition required.
