UCD Symphony Orchestra

The UCD Symphony Orchestra is a full-size orchestral ensemble that performs a broad repertoire of classical, romantic and 20th century works. The orchestra gives two major concerts annually, including one in the National Concert Hall, Ireland's premier concert venue. Programmes frequently feature works with major soloists. Rehearsals take place each Monday evening at 6.30, with extra rehearsals scheduled closer to concerts. The UCDSO can be taken as an elective and a number of scholarships are available. Prospective members should fill out an application form on our website.

At the audition, you will be required to perform a prepared piece of no more than 5 minutes duration. You are not expected to provide an accompanist, but may provide one if you wish. You will also have to play a short orchestral excerpt that you can collect 30 minutes before your allocated audition time. There will be a room available for you to warm up and look over the excerpt.  For more detail, see Audition Information.
