Ben O'Callaghan

Ben holds a Master of Engineering (ME) degree in Biomedical Engineering from University College Dublin and is currently studying for a PhD degree.

Ben’s research focuses on the application of signal processing techniques to surface EMG and accelerometery data to quantify motor impairment and the subsequent effects of therapeutic interventions in neurological diseases. Currently, his work is focussed on the decomposition of surface EMG signals to examine the influences of medication and deep brain stimulation (DBS) on the recruitment and firing behaviour of motor units in individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.
