UCD Seeks External Chairs for Key Governance Posts

University College Dublin has placed a notice in The Irish Times and The Sunday Business Post seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified external individuals in the pro bono roles of Chair of the Governing Authority and Chair of the Finance, Remuneration and Asset Management Committee.

“This follows a recent decision by the Governing Authority to publicise the roles in this way and is part of UCD’s commitment to transparency and to engagement with the wider community,” explained the President, Professor Andrew Deeks, who chairs the Nominations Committee which will oversee the appointment process for the two roles.

“Although employees of UCD and current members of the Governing Authority are precluded by legislation and by statute from consideration for these roles, the Nominations Committee hopes very much that they will encourage high achievers from outside to put their names forward to ensure that these crucial governance functions are filled by persons of exceptional calibre and experience,” the President added.

UCD alumni are also being notified of the call for expressions of interest, details of which are posted on the Governing Authority webpage.
