Taoiseach opens new Student Centre at UCD
The Taoiseach Mr
Bertie Ahern TD officially opened the new Student Centre in University
College Dublin at 1.00pm on Thursday 26th April. The Student Centre was built at a cost of �10.5
million and was funded jointly
by students and the College. All former Presidents of the UCD
Students' Union were invited to attend the event. |

The Taoiseach Mr Bertie Ahern TD officially opens the New Student
Centre

The
Student Centre covers a floor area of almost 4,000 sq.metres and
provides recreational facilities for UCD's 18,000 students. The Centre accommodates the Student Union Offices, the administrative facilities
for the 168 clubs and societies in UCD. In addition, there is a
multipurpose hall with seating for 600 and a new clubhouse for members
of the various societies. The Centre also accommodates the Student
Medical Centre, two caf�s and a newsagent shop.
The new
Student Centre was designed by Murray O'Laoire & Associates and was
built by John Paul Construction. It is located between the Science
Buildings and the Sports Centre beside Car Park number 1 on the Belfield
Campus.
