Neosera Systems, a UCD spin-out company, has won InterTradeIrelands All-island Seedcorn Business Competition 2004 Award for the best seedcorn business plan stemming from a university spinout or platform programme. Neosera which is located in NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at UCD, is focussed on developing innovative solutions for the verification of silicon chips.

This competition now in its second year, is organised by EquityNetwork, a major initiative of InterTradeIreland, established to promote the acceleration of business growth through the use of private equity.

The Award, which comes with prize of EUR10,000, was presented to Dr Damian Dalton, Neoseras Co-Founder and CTO, and Abhay Vadher, Engineering Director, by Eoin ODriscoll, Chairman of Forfs and Chair of the Enterprise Strategy Group.

On receiving this award, Dr Damian Dalton, Co-Founder and CTO of Neosera said, We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. The team at Neosera have worked very hard during the year and it is fantastic that their efforts have been rewarded with this prize. He added, Neosera will shortly be seeking additional venture capital funding and winning this award will be of immense benefit to the company when we go out and talk to the VC community.

Neosera has developed an innovative and breakthrough design for allowing chip verification accurately, quickly and at very low cost. Its APPLES (Associative Parallel Processor for Logic Event-driven Simulation) processor integrates transparently into the existing design tools used by major digital design groups and can deliver a 10-100 fold reduction in the time required to simulate and verify new digital circuits compared to software running on a Pentium processor. This technology reduces chip development time and enables chip manufacturers to deliver their products sooner and more cost effectively to the market.

Neosera has recently launched its latest high-tech product, ENiGMA. (ENergy Investigation via Gate and Module Analysis). ENiGMA is a power analysis and calculation product that provides
a fast and accurate power assessment of a silicon design under test at the gate level of abstraction. In addition to being considerably faster, ENiGMA can deliver dynamic and static power analysis within a 3% error margin while conventional power estimation or calculation tools typically have an error margin of 10% - 80%.

In another key strategic development for the company, Cathal McGloin, former CEO and Co-founder of Performix Technologies, has also recently joined its Board of Directors.

Neosera was founded in June 2001 by Dr Damian Dalton of UCDs Department of Computer Science with Paul Birkett and Ann OHanlon. Neosera currently has a research team of 10 individuals located in NovaUCD, while another research group is located at the Technical University of Graz, Austria. The company also has a commercial office on the West Coast of America.
