This year's sponsored group walk
to Santiago de Compostela consisted of 7 business students, 5 medical students, 2 architectural students and 2 leaders.
This was a sponsored walk in aid of Fr Peter McVerrys hostels for homeless young people in Dublin and a cheque will be presented to the charity on 14 September 2005.
The group walked, on average, about six hours each day, covering approximately 130 kilometres, carrying everything
required on their backs. The walk commenced at Roncesvalles on the border of France and Spain and
continued for five days to Los Arcos. The group then took an overnight train to Sarria and
from there walked for another five days to Santiago de Compostela. They stayed in refugios or hostels along the way and, despite blisters, everyone received the Compostela, which is the certificate awarded to pilgrims.
