Students and teachers travelled to the Belfield campus from schools around Ireland, bringing an attendance of 18,000 students from 285 schools, who were accompanied by 514 career
guidance counsellors and teachers. Almost 80% of those attending were
fifth year students, who will be making their CAO applications in
January 2004.
The objective of the UCD Open Days is to provide future students with
information on the career options open to them and the opportunity to
see campus facilities and the on-campus student residences. Briefing
sessions for groups of students took place every half hour in the
Student Centre, after which the students were free to visit the various
buildings which hosted on-site talks and displays. Staff were available
to discuss the courses on offer in all the faculties.
