Actuarial and Financial Studies 
Awards Luncheon


Industry sponsored Prizes for academic achievement in the UCD Actuarial and Financial Studies degree programme were presented by various sponsors at a luncheon held in the Norah Greene Room of the UCD Belfield restaurant on Friday 19 March 2004. 

Declan Bolger, FIA, presented the Canada Life Prize in Advanced German to joint winners Paul McDwyer and Alison Nee. The New Ireland Prize in Advanced French was presented by Elaine Spillane (BAFS 1997), FIA, to Elena McElroy de la Rosa, and Michael Walsh, FIA, presented the Mercer Prize in Japanese to Brian Fitzpatrick. 

The Eagle Star Prize in Fundamentals of Actuarial Mathematics was presented by David O'Dowd (BAFS 1996), FIA to Adrian O'Hagan. Eoghan Burns (BAFS 1995), FIA presented the Irish Life Prizes in Statistics to Adrian O'Hagan and Caroline Lynch. Derek Hunter, FIA, presented the Watson Wyatt Prizes in Survival Models to Emer Casey, Billy Shannon and Stuart Redmond. 

The Society of Actuaries in Ireland was represented by President Pat Healy, FIA, of AXA Insurance. Also present at the luncheon from UCD were Philip Boland, Gareth Colgan and Marie Doyle of the Statistics Department, and Mary Ruane and Chie Ode of the Applied Language Centre.
