Entrepreneurial Universities - NovaUCD Innovation Showcase

Visitors attending the Entrepreneurial Universities - NovaUCD Innovation Showcase on October 19 will have an opportunity to meet with, listen and talk to members of NovaUCD’s successful community of innovators and entrepreneurs. There will also be an opportunity for visitors to witness technology demonstrations.

Participants in this event include NovaUCD client companies as well as new ventures participating on NovaUCD's 2009 Campus Company Development Programme.

Profile of Participating Companies and New Ventures 

Amyloid-based Adhesives utilises bio-mimetic technology to develop biocompatible amyloid-based adhesives. A participant on the NovaUCD 2009 Campus Company Development Programme.

Founders: Dr Anika Mostaert and Professor Suzi Jarvis, UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science.

Aonta Technologies provides carrier grade voice conferencing solutions to conferencing service providers, telcos and enterprises. The solutions support all modes of conferencing including reserved, reservation-less, attended and unattended.

Founders: David Seavers and Derek Moore.

Bettie is designing a new product specifically for the aging population, and allows people to keep up-to-date and in touch with friends and family. A participant on the NovaUCD 2009 Campus Company Development Programme.

Founders: Ben Arent and Zoran Skrba, UCD Complex and Adaptive Systems Laboratory.

BiancaMed is a leading medical health technology company which offers leading health technology solutions for monitoring everyday living. BiancaMed’s vision is to help people to enjoy healthy lives.

Founders: Dr Philip de Chazal, Dr Conor Hanley and Professor Conor Heneghan, UCD’s School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering

Cernam is developing software and managed services in the area of high-tech crime, specifically digital evidence and online investigations. A participant on the NovaUCD 2009 Campus Company Development Programme.

Founder: Owen O’Connor.

Ionic Business Systems provides a range of technology products including website design, implementation and hosting. Ionic has a range of website functionality modules which can be combined to create fully featured websites and online services.

Founder: David Sharpe.

Lightwave Technologies is an innovative environmental technology company which provides real-time web-enabled energy saving solutions for commercial buildings.

Founder: Nicholas McNulty.

PEAT/Distill is developing a suite of software packages for the biomolecular, pharmaceutical and the protein engineering industry. A participant on the NovaUCD 2009 Campus Company Development Programme.

Founders:  Dr Martin Peters, Dr Ian Walsh, Dr Michael Johnston, Dr Jens Erik Nielsen, Dr Gianluca Pollastri, UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science.

VIDAS is developing peer-to-peer video distribution technologies for future networks. A participant on the NovaUCD 2009 Campus Company Development Programme.

Founders: Dr Sean Murphy, Dr Hamid Nafaa and Professor Liam Murphy, UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics.

Q-Validus is an international certification solutions provider working with renowned international awarding bodies and global technology and distribution partners to develop and deliver innovative IT certification programmes which provide practical and collaborative skills appropriate to the evolving workplace.

Founders: David Carpenter, Garry Cleere and Dudley Dolan.
