Drawing on extensive faculty experience in Biostatistics, this Professional Certificate in Biostatistics (15 ECTS, NFQ Level 9) comprises 3 modules with a focus on data management and computational skills in the IBM SPSS package, and on biostatistics methodologies ranging from basic probability, to two-group tests, to regression modelling and survival analysis.
Quantitative skills are essential for the conduct of biomedical research - from Principal Investigators, to PhD students such skills permit objective evaluation of hypotheses.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for a broad range of students: from Postgraduate students beginning a research career to Postdoctoral or faculty researchers wishing to strengthen their quantitative skills. Researchers in any field will benefit, with examples mainly drawn from biomedical research.
What will I learn?
In semester one students learn Data Management and Statistics with SPSS, which focuses on understanding and managing data; describing, visualising and exploring data in IBM SPSS.
