Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Skill Sprint?
A Skill Sprint is a short online learning course, designed and delivered live by our industry-experts, that rapidly gives you key skills and knowledge on a specific topic so that you can make an immediate impact in your role.
The skills you need, when you need them.
We’ve created Skill Sprints at different levels and in a format that is convenient and timely for you. You can start at a place that meets your current skill level and grow your knowledge to the level that best suits your needs.
Who is this Skill Sprint for?
Skill sprints have been developed in association with our industry partners. They are a reflection of the needs of L&D and Hiring managers who have told us about their current workforce needs. Learners frequently include:
Professionals in or aspiring to international roles (e.g., global sales, marketing, HR, leadership).
Individuals working in or managing diverse, multicultural teams.
Students or academics engaging in international exchange or collaboration.
Frequent international travellers (business or leisure) wanting to enhance their interactions.
Anyone seeking to improve their cross-cultural awareness and communication effectiveness.
Those who have recently experienced or wish to proactively avoid cross-cultural misunderstandings.
I can see Levels 1, 2, and 3 on this topic page. What’s the difference?
Some of our Skill Sprints include multiple levels (levels 1,2,3), each designed to build on the one before, and increasing in breadth and depth of learning.
Level 1 typically focuses on the essential knowledge and core techniques. They’re ideal for anyone starting out or looking to build a foundation on the topic. It can also serve as a useful refresher on the topic
Level 2 will then introduce more advanced concepts and is typically suited to those with some prior experience in the subject.
Level 3 sprints will usually explore strategic or specialist application of learning, often relevant to senior professionals or those applying these skills at an organisational level, or within a strategic context.
Because these sprints are stackable, Levels 2 and 3 assume existing knowledge attainable from prior levels. If you are unsure, we recommend beginning with Level 1 giving you the opportunity to build up to a complete skillset. However, anyone with the underpinning skills is welcome on any level.

How is this Skill Sprint assessed?
Skill Sprints are assessed by a pre-learning evaluation, a quiz after each unit, and a post-learning evaluation. These steps must be completed within 2 weeks after completing your last live session to receive your Skill Sprint badge.
While not mandatory, we recommend that you complete an action learning log - short written reflections on the content and your personal experiences after each session - to reinforce your learning. This is also a great way to refresh your memory and plan for how you will use your skills in the future
What happens if I miss a live session?
UCD Professional Academy encourages learners to attend as many of the live sessions as possible to make the most of each Skill Sprint.
But don’t worry! We understand that life gets in the way. Video recordings will be available for each unit so you can catch up on anything you missed. This means you can still access your Skill Sprint materials and earn your badge by completing the quizzes.
What happens after I complete this Skill Sprint?
On successful completion of this Skill Sprint, you will receive your UCD Professional Academy Skill Sprint badge. This will be sent by email. You can then share this with your employer, colleagues, or with your wider professional network on social media.
