Each level within the Coaching Skill Sprint set provides six hours of targeted content to build skills progressively and meet wider challenges.


1. What is Coaching? (Level 1)

Shift from telling to asking. This unit contextualises coaching using the TAPS Model. You will explore the difference between managing and coaching, and how a coaching mindset fosters responsibility and problem-solving in employees.

2. Developing Core Coaching Skills (Level 1)

Listening and questioning. This unit focuses on the mechanics of connection. You will learn active listening techniques to build engagement and powerful questioning strategies that encourage self-reflection.

3. The Coaching Mindset (Level 1)

Facilitate insights. This unit covers the practical application of coaching. You will learn to structure short, informal coaching conversations (Awareness → Exploration → Action) and apply a growth mindset to development.

4. Coaching Structure (Level 2)

Guide performance coaching. This unit provides a deep dive into the GROW framework. You will learn to guide conversations that clarify goals, explore current realities, generate options, and secure commitment to action.

5. Effective Feedback (Level 2)

Understand threat and reward. This unit explores the neuroscience of feedback. You will learn how to navigate the Brain's Organising Principle to deliver constructive, non-threatening feedback that maintains psychological safety.

6. Mentoring for Performance (Level 2)

7. Reframing for Resilience (Level 3)

What is the Coaching Skill Pack?

The Coaching Skill Pack is a comprehensive 9-week programme that takes you from the fundamentals of coaching to advanced application. It combines all three levels of our Coaching Skill Sprints into one seamless learning journey, designed to equip managers and leaders with the skills to foster growth, performance, and resilience in their teams.

What is the difference between a Skill Sprint and this Skill Pack?

A Skill Sprint is designed for quick upskilling on a specific topic over 3 weeks. The Skill Pack brings three related sprints together into a 9-week journey, giving you a complete, end-to-end understanding of the field without having to book separate courses.

Skill sprints have been developed in association with our industry partners.  They are a reflection of the needs of L&D and Hiring managers who have told us about their current workforce needs.  Learners frequently include:

Do I need prior coaching experience?

No prior experience is required to start. The course begins with Level 1, which lays the groundwork. Because the levels are stackable, you will naturally build up to the advanced concepts in Levels 2 and 3.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered Live Online via Zoom. This allows you to interact with industry-experts and peers in real-time, just like a classroom, but from the comfort of your home or office.

What happens if I miss a live session?

We encourage live attendance for the best experience, but we understand life happens. All sessions are recorded and made available on the Learning Management System (LMS) so you can catch up at your convenience.

How is the course assessed?

There are no stressful final exams. Assessment is continuous and practical, typically involving weekly quizzes or short practical tasks to ensure you are comfortable applying the skills you’ve learned in real time.

What certification will I receive?

Upon successful completion of the course (and meeting attendance/assessment criteria), you will receive a UCD Professional Academy Digital Badge for the full Skill Pack, which you can display on your LinkedIn profile and CV.
