Universal Design walkabout on UCD Campus
Students on the MSc in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies joined forces with students from the School of Architecture for a combined workshop on Universal Design. Our guest lecturer was Neil Murphy, a qualified architect and Senior Built Environment Advisor at the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design, the statutory body established to advise Government on environmental design. UCD were represented by Michael Pike, lecturer with the School of Architecture and Dr Christine Linehan, Director of the UCD Centre for Disability Studies.
Following a stimulating and lively lecture, students were asked to take a ‘walkabout’ of the UCD campus and photograph examples of universal design. Some of their photographs appear below. Our thanks to students and staff who participated in this collaboration.
