What students know and what they need to know about mental health event
Dr. Barbra Dooley opens Monday's Youth Mental Health Labs 'Discovery and Direction: What students know and what they need to know about mental health'.
The event included two presentations addressing the topic of mental health in post-primary school pupils. The attendees were teachers and guide counsellors from post-primary schools in Leinster. Dr. Niki Nearchou, a Research Fellow at UCD School of Psychology and YMHLab member, presented research findings from a recent project regarding levels of mental health literacy and help seeking intentions among post-primary school pupils. The second presentation was delivered by Dorry Holland, who is an Educational Psychologist working in the National Educational Psychological Service. Dorry Holland discussed ways of promoting students' wellbeing through education. The presentations were followed by a stimulating discussion among attendees, presenters, and YMHLab members.
Both presentations will be made available here on the schools Youtube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/user/PsychologyUCD ) over the next weeks.
