Benefits of RPL

Ronan Horgan, a former UCD student speaking about the benefit of having his prior learning recognised.  Ronan hadn't pursued formal academic third-level qualifications previously but had a huge amount of business experience.   He wasn't sure what would be involved but decided to get in touch with the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business.  He was asked to complete an application form to have his experiential learning assessed.  He was accepted onto the programme and he hasn't looked back since.

Dr. Mary Ryder Director of Nursing Education and Practice Development in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Health Systems discusses the benefits of RPL to students undertaking further professional development.

Dr. Mark Scanlon Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science talks about the benefit that students bring to the class that have varying skills and experiences.  About 20% of students applying to the Masters Programme, apply for RPL.

Hear from RPL Project Manager Grace Edge on why RPL is so important and how the National RPL in Higher Education project is working towards building capacity for RPL across the sector.
