The QBI/SBI Seminar Series on molecular networks of cancer and other diseases aims to facilitate collaborative relationships between scientists from both the US and Ireland. QBI and UCD recently signed a 5-year MOU to reinforce the links between scientists in San Francisco and Dublin, and enhance their collaborative ability to strengthen scientific research and innovation. Through this agreement, scientists will work together to identify opportunities to promote cooperative biosciences research and training activities.

On March 2nd, 2022, the series will present Trever Bivona, Professor of Medicine, joint with Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Bivona is a cell and molecular biologist and a board-certified medical oncologist. He received his MD and PhD degrees from NYU School of Medicine, followed by internal medicine training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, and medical oncology and post-doctoral research training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Bivona then joined the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology division and within the Helen Diller UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center where he directs a basic and translational research program investigating oncogene signaling pathways and the molecular basis of response and resistance to cancer therapeutics. He received a NIH Director’s New Innovator Award and is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Dr. Bivona is currently Principal Investigator of the NIH/NCI Bay Area Drug Resistance and Sensitivity Center.
