Colin Scott delivers lectures on diversity, private regulation and Brexit negotiations at Utrecht University

 

UCD College of Social Sciences and Law further developed their relationship with Utrecht University's Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance with a visit by Colin Scott, Principal of UCD College of Social Sciences and Law visited Utrecht University from 2 to 6 October, 2017.

Professor of EU Regulation & Governance at UCD, Scott is an acclaimed scholar in EU governance, non-state regulation and transnational private regulation. His position as IOS Fellow is combined with a Renforce Fellowship. Scott presented a paper on the legitimacy of private regulation at the Renforce PRIVACT workshop on the regulatory role of private actors. He also led a seminar for students in the European Governance Masters and met with the Utrecht University Diversity Board in his position as Vice President for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion of University College Dublin.

On Thursday October 5, he gave a lecture for the Directorate of European Integration at the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hague, where he discussed the Irish position in the Brexit negotiations in the context of the future of the EU. Commentary was provided by Ton van den Brink and Linda Senden, and Joost Flamand and Hanno Wurzner (Director and Deputy Director European Integration at Department of Foreign Affairs). The visit was hosted by Utrecht University's Linda Senden and Judith van Erp.
