At a reception yesterday in UCD, ten students were honoured as this year’s Graduate Sports Scholars.
Director of Student Services, Dominic O’Keeffe opened the breakfast reception in the Student Centre acknowledging the contribution these students have already given as undergraduate students and hope that now, as graduates they now set examples, be both athletes and students to aspire towards and become leaders both on and off the field to those that succeed them.
Director of Sport, Brian Mullins thanked all the academic colleges and leaders present at the reception including Smurfit Head of Admission Colm Small, Centre for Sports Studies Director Seamus Kelly, School of Education Dympna Devine and College Principal and Dean of Science Professor Joe Carthy; which without their support this scholarship programme would not be possible.
The scholarships currently are available in Science, Sports Management, the Smurfit School of Business and the Professional Masters in Education and with the scholarship programme having doubled since last year it is hoped that it continues to grow and expand to assist and support our talented sporting students continue their education into masters level.
