Four UCD representatives selected for the 30th edition of the World University Games to be held in Naples, Italy next month.
At the Team Ireland announcement held last Thursday June 13th at the Sport Ireland Campus Conference Centre, Student Sport Ireland announced a delegation of 52 students to compete in four sports at the Games.
The Athletics representatives include UCD Athletics Alanna Lally and Sarah Lavin. The Men’s Football squad includes UCD AFC’s Gavin Sheridan. While UCD Women’s Soccer have Chloe Mustaki included in the Women’s Football squad.

The biennial World University Games, organised by FISU (the International University Sports Federation), is considered second only to the Olympics in terms of competing athlete numbers. In Naples, over 9,300 students from 128 countries will compete in 18 sports.
In her address Student Sport Ireland President Carmel Lynch said:
‘I am delighted to take this opportunity to wish all athletes and support team every success as they prepare for Napoli 2019. I trust they will enjoy a wonderful experience representing Ireland at this prestigious global event. Student Sport Ireland is very proud to be associated with such a large talented team of elite athletes and we acknowledge and highly value the collaboration of Sport Ireland, Sport Northern Ireland and the National Governing Bodies of Sports with Student Sport Ireland in the nurturing of this exceptional team’.
