Supporting You
Student Advisers are here to support students individually and collectively in identifying and achieving their academic goals by helping them manage the various life challenges they may encounter.
Each degree programme has a dedicated student adviser and there are additional advisers for International and Mature Students. Contact your adviser if you feel we can be of assistance.
UCD Trusted Persons
UCD is committed to providing an excellent education and supportive environment to all our students and there are a range of supports available to those who are studying at the university. However, students may not always know who to contact and may reach out to any member of the UCD community for support.
Throughout UCD, staff is available to students in need and they are placed in the role of a 'Trusted Person'. Trusted Persons are not expected to be able to resolve specific student issues or problems but should feel equipped with the knowledge of “who”, “when” and “how” to refer onwards to another service. The UCD Trusted Person Poster will give you information on who you can contact, and you can download it here.
CHAPLAINS
UCD has four Chaplains available to students to offer support and advice. They also have excellent facilities at St Stephen’s Chaplaincy where students can meet and make friends and form a community of like-minded people. Many different groups use the facilities for meetings, coffee mornings, interfaith gatherings etc. Contact any of the team if you would like further information.

STUDENT CENTRE
The UCD Student Centre is at the core of the UCD Student Experience, providing a home for Clubs and Societies as well as housing many of the essential services which students interact with on a daily basis. If it is catching up for a drink in the Clubhouse, attending a play in the DramSoc Theatre, joining in a weekly debate in the Chamber or even just settling down for a blockbuster in the state of the art cinema, the Student Centre is the hub of UCD Student Life.
Also housed in the Student Centre are a wide range of shops and restaurants, a pool room, the Student Health & Counselling Service and the multifunctional Astra Hall that across the year hosts a range of events including concerts, musicals and guest speakers.
STUDENT HEALTH & COUNSELLING SERVICE
The Student Health & Counselling Service is based on the first floor of the Student Centre. It is staffed by medical professionals and a team of counsellors. Check out their website for opening hours and the range of services provided.
The Student Health & Counselling Service recently collaborated with the UCD Library Service to compile a collection of books on a wide range of topics around personal health and well-being.
Whether you’re interested in managing stress and learning some new relaxation techniques, or having more difficult mental health issues, there are books here that can help.
Or, if you would simply like to learn more about cookery, exercise, nutrition and sexual health, there’s plenty of new titles to suit your needs – reflecting high street bookshops.
Although members of the Student Health team recommend specific titles to students during consultations, the Health & Wellbeing range is available to the whole student body to browse and borrow themselves.
