We are delighted to offer a new module “Leading in University Teaching & Learning”. This module is designed to support staff leading in university teaching and learning and is available as part of the Professional Programmes in University Teaching and Learning.

This module is aimed at faculty and academic related staff engaged in leading their colleagues in university teaching and learning. The module will enable participants to critically reflect on their personal and professional leadership skills and to apply leadership theory to their practices. It will explore different approaches to programme design and implementation (including teaching, learning and assessment approaches) and how institutional and national data can be used to support quality enhancement of teaching and learning.  It will encourage peer dialogue to critique:

  • best practices in leading change in teaching and learning enhancement/policies,
  • different international, national, institutional case studies of policies and practice in leading change,
  • a range of strategies to engage key stakeholders.

To fulfill the module assessment requirements participants will need to demonstrate how they have applied their learning from this module to a current leadership challenge or initiative. Therefore, module participants should be leading colleagues either through a formal leadership role in their school/college or through a significant teaching and learning initiative.

For further information on the module please contact Assoc Prof Geraldine O'Neill at geraldine.m.oneill@ucd.ie
