Fáilte Refugees UCD

Failte Refugees is a campaign which was established by third-level students and has extended to Universitities and Institutes of Technology nationwide.

It is a student-led initiative which aims to

  • Increase awareness of the global migration crisis
  • Empower the students of Ireland to be agents of change
  • Motivate the people of Ireland to support the Irish Government to stand by its commitment of accepting at least 4000 refugees and
  • Welcome refugees into every community in Ireland and support their integration into Irish society.

Why is this campaign important?

Solidarity

We are standing together with a shared purpose and interest to change how our country is failing to react to a global migration crisis.

Equality

There is a need for Ireland to create places within our communities where migrants and refugees are not just tolerated but treated as equals.

Compassion

Refugees have no choice. But we do. We are compassionate people and can empathise with the situation refugees have been faced with. Showing them that Ireland is a safe and welcoming place for them is a step in the right direction.

Céad Míle Fáilte

We have been known worldwide as a nation who take humanitarian action.  We have been welcomed into countries as migrants when times were tough in Ireland. It is now time to extend our Céad Míle Fáilte (One Hundred Thousand Welcomes) to those most in need.
