International Day of Women and Girls in Science

International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated annually on 11th February, aims to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. Click on the links below to see how we have supported this event in recent years.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science recognises the role of women and girls in science, not only as beneficiaries, but also as agents of change.  With a view to accelerating progress towards the achievement of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), the 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly focused on the following topic: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us.

For 2022, UCD School of Veterinary Medicine staff and students, Chloe, Shermin, Amanda and Marijke shared how important science is in their lives, in videos shared on social media.

The videos can be accessed on our Twitter account here: (opens in a new window)https://twitter.com/ucdvetmed/status/1492093973778862114

At the School of Veterinary Medicine, we are lucky to have several talented researchers from all over the world making major contributions to many different scientific areas including genetics, microbiology, immunology, oncology and pathology. To celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2021, we asked five of our current researchers to share some of the things that they are working on and to offer advice to others considering a career in science.
