Residency & Internship Programmes
The three year Residency Programme provides advanced clinical and research training in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. In the UCD Veterinary Hospital, Residents are concurrently enrolled in a four year Professional Doctorate degree programme. Residents are trained in anaesthetic and perioperative pain management in the main animal species and are prepared to sit the board exams of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA). The residency programme complies with the guidelines of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) for admission to examination for Diplomate (specialist) status. Vacancies for the training programme are advertised on the UCDVH website from time to time.
We also offer a one year Internship Programme in Small Animal Anaesthesia. The Anaesthesia Intern is part of the UCDVH Intern team, and they share night and weekend duties in the small animal wards with the other small animal Interns. The Intern works under the supervision of a Senior Anaesthesiologist.
