Clinical Staff
The clinical staff of the UCDVH cover a wide range of individual veterinary specialty services. Our staff include European and American board-certified specialists, residents, interns and nurses. UCDVH patients benefit from having a large number of board-certified specialists in-house, which allows us to offer the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options.
- Board-certified specialists - these are graduate veterinarians that have completed a one year internship followed by a three or four year residency programme (DVMS). They must then successfully complete a rigorous European College examination to become a board-certified specialist in their discipline.
- Residents - these are specialists in training.
- Interns - complete one year in the UCDVH to gain training for practice, clinical teaching, and specialty-board eligibility. Internships may be specifically large or small animal internal medicine, surgery or anaesthesia and emergency medicine, with some rotating through small or large animal disciplines.
