If you are parent in UCD you may be interested in becoming a buddy to staff who are expectant parents, parents who have recently returned to work, or with children of any age. An informal support, buddies provide a listening ear and give tips to parents on balancing family and work demands.
As part of her research as an Academic Track Intern, Dr Eithne Nic an Ríogh completed a research project investigating the barriers and facilitators to Hepatitis C treatment across four European countries. The results suggest that the HepCare intervention is successful in improving engagement with HCV and increases rates of treatment.
Research from the Kölle group has demonstrated how inflammation in the oviduct affect survival, motility and fertilising capacity of sperm as well as how it impairs sperm-oviduct interaction under near in vivo conditions and in real time. People with rheumatoid arthritis have shared their experiences of living with the condition in a new photographic exhibition to be launched in The Chocolate Factory Art Centre on Sat 28 Sept 19 and wll be exhibited in the Whitty Wing, Mater Hospital from Mon - Fri 14th-18th October. Admission Free.
Congratulations to Prof Catherine Godson, Director, UCD Diabetes Complications Research Centre who has been honoured by the International Association of Inflammation Societies (IAIS) in recognition of ‘outstanding research and leadership contributions’. The UCD Conway Institute researcher is to be presented with the Women in Science award that the 14th World Congress on Inflammation 2019.
UCD Legal Medicine celebrated graduations from its Graduate Diploma in Healthcare (Risk Management & Quality) and Professional Certificate in Medico-legal Aspects of Healthcare programmes at a event held in the UCD Charles Institute on Tuesday 10th September 2019. We were honoured to have the Hon. Mr. Justice Charles Meenan, Judge of the High Court deliver the keynote address. A total of 441 participants have completed the programme since its inception in 1995.
