Universitas 21 Early Career Researchers (ECR) Workshop
UCD Research & Innovation
The 2015 Universitas 21 Early Career Researchers (ECR) workshop will be hosted by UCD from 4 – 6th March 2015 and the theme is ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’.
The key objective of this workshop is to increase ECRs’ research capabilities and enhance skills associated with career development in academia. The workshop will have a strong focus on networking and gaining an international perspective on the role and career route of researchers. Further information on the programme is available on the U21 website.
Early career academics (PD1 and PD2) in any discipline are welcome to apply to attend the workshop. During the course of the workshop, early stage academic researchers from all over the world will properly consider what it means and what it takes to be entrepreneurial while remaining in academia – this includes interacting meaningfully across disciplines, engaging effectively with the public and understanding more about how to be heard by funding agencies and policy makers.
The programme will include TedX-style presentations from established U21 researchers, an interactive poster session, a keynote panel discussion and a day-long design thinking challenge.
Participant preparation :
1. design your poster that explains (an aspect of) your research in a way that makes sense to other researchers working outside of your discipline.
2. check out these YouTube clips so you are familiar with the TedX format
3. come hungry, thirsty and wanting to make friends. Please pack a sense of humour and a big suitcase of curiosity.
