In association with our U21 Health Sciences partners, the School hosts hosted the UN Sustainable Development Goals Awareness Week. The events take place at 5pm daily from 4 - 7 Apr 16 in the UCD Health Sciences Centre. The event will feature a number of keynote talks from academics and students addressing Goal 3 of the SDGs: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. All welcome.
Dr Alan Phillips, Global Head of Biostatistics, ICON Clinical Research will deliver a workshop on Regulatory Statistics on Thur, 7 Apr 16 from 2 - 5pm in the ICON Lecture Theatre, UCD O’Brien Science Centre. Topics will include key trends and issues in Clinical Trial biostatistics including regulatory requirements, statistical concepts and trial design and adaptive trial design.
Applications are invited from students wishing to take part in an interdisciplinary hackathon workshop on Fri, 29 Apr 16 at the UCD Health Science Centre & UCD Charles Institute in which participant teams explore the design thinking process and prototyping of a new prosthetic limb concept. The Palliative Care in Neurodegeneration Workshop will be hosted by UCC School of Medicine on 27 May 16 in the Kingsley Hotel, Cork. It will bring researchers together from multiple disciplines to discuss ‘Palliative care in Neurodegeneration, with a focus on dementia’, using multiple approaches to optimise networking opportunities and cross-discipline learning. Applications for poster competition and travel bursaries are invited from early career researchers in any related discipline with an application deadline of 5 pm, Tue, 3 May 16.
The 13th Annual Psychology, Health and Medicine Conference, hosted by the Psychological Society of Ireland in association with the British Psychological Society, Northern Ireland Branch, will take place on 27 May 16 at the School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork. The CHAS Education Group host an Assessment Forum on Mon 30 May 16 from 1pm to 4pm in C004, UCD Health Sciences Centre. The forum will feature keynote address by Prof Katharine Boursicot (Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Singapore) on Designing an Assessment Strategy. The forum will be of particular interest to staff who involved in module and programme enhancement.
