Supports for Carers

UCD Carer’s Framework

The purpose of the UCD Carer’s framework is to provide an overview of the policies and supports available to employees who are caring for individuals who are in need of personal care or support due to the serious medical condition, illness, disability or frailty. The intention of this framework is to highlight policies and supports in one place for ease of access and provide guidance for managers and employee on flexible working arrangements, force majeure leave, medical care leave or longer-term leave under the Carer’s Leave Act and return to work supports.  This is an evolving framework and further supports will be developed as part of the UCD Gender Equality Action Plan 2024-2028.
