Bord na Gaeilge UCD is the university’s cross-faculty Irish language board which facilitates all students and staff who wish to engage with the language. Its current projects include language courses, cultural workshops, a translation service, an Irish language student residence scheme, an alumni mentoring scheme, international exchanges and a summer school for the global Irish language community. It has a particular warm welcome for international students and staff, alumni and diaspora.
Irish Language Student Residential Scheme
UCD's mini-Gaeltacht, first established in 2000, offers students a unique experience. Students from various subject areas have the opportunity to live and work together as Gaeilge, while further developing their individual talents through a range of social and cultural activities. Bord na Gaeilge offers scholarships to 24 students who are fluent Irish speakers and who have the desire and the ability to initiate projects which promote the use of the language.
Application forms will be available on 1 March 2018.Find out more
