By Bus – Dublin Bus

The Belfield campus is serviced directly by bus route numbers 3, 39a, 11B and 17. The 46A, 84 and 145 buses stop at the main entrance of UCD, about five minutes walk to the Daedalus Building. For exact routes and timetable information please visit www.dublinbus.ie and search for ‘University College Dublin’.

By Bus - Bus Eireann
(opens in a new window)Bus Éireann provides a nationwide bus service throughout Ireland with most major areas having a regular link to Dublin. The majority of Dublin services terminate in Busáras (Central Bus Station) from where it is a short walk to O'Connell Street for connecting buses to UCD. For further information please visit the Bus Éireann website.

By Car
UCD has several entrances and car parks. You are advised to consult UCD’s Traffic Office for information about how to get to UCD, traffic restrictions on campus, and parking facilities.

By Taxi
Dublin has a good taxi service and there is a plentiful supply of taxis operating in the city. It is possible to hail a taxi from the street, but convenient taxi ranks are located opposite the Gresham Hotel on O’Connell Street and opposite Trinity College on College Green. Remember to check the fare with the taxi driver before the journey.

By Dart
(opens in a new window)The Dubin Area Rapid Transport (DART) local rail system serves a station close to UCD at Sydney Parade.  It is roughly 30 minutes on foot.  In term time, a regular shuttle bus runs from the station to UCD (O'Reilly Hall carpark).

To get to the Applied Language Centre and student residences from Dublin Airport, we suggest:

  • (opens in a new window)Aircoach (blue bus) operates a service to Leopardstown/Sandyford/Stillorgan which passes UCD on the way to and from Dublin Airport. Further details are available on the Aircoach website.
  • Airlink 746: this is operated by Dublin Bus and runs on an hourly basis. It takes you from the airport via the city centre to Dun Laoghaire. The bus goes past UCD/Montrose Hotel but only once an hour, so check the timetable. The Airlink 747 bus goes to Busáras (the central bus station in the city centre). The Airlink 748 goes via the centre to Heuston Train Station.
