Discovery is led by Professor Patricia Maguire, Director, Fellow in the Conway Institute & Professor in the UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science, who is responsible for developing and leading the Institute in an overall strategic direction. Patricia is an interdisciplinary scientist and inventor who is passionate about the intersection of Artificial Intelligence with Biomedical Science.

She supports the development and implementation of the Institute strategy and is responsible for the global visiting fellowship programme, the marketing and communications, HR and facility operations.

Maura is a qualified nurse, has a PhD in Molecular Epizootology and Diagnostics, has worked as a researcher and Head of Research Support Services at NUI Galway, and in a number of senior roles in the Health Research Board Ireland (policy, evaluation, grant management, European funding). Maura has a long-time interest in research Integrity (RI) and has been very influential in raising awareness of research integrity (RI) issues in Ireland and internationally.

Vincent's research interests are in the areas of information theory and signal processing, and their applications in wireless networks, energy systems and related fields. He received the Ph.D. degree in EECS from Princeton University, in 1977. Previous appointments include faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dean of Princeton's School of Engineering and Applied Science, and visiting appointments several institutions most recently at Berkeley and Cambridge.

A leading advocate for creativity in business thinking, Jim is inspired by the pursuit of original and thought-provoking solutions to big problems. He was previously Global CEO at Superunion and Group CEO of The Partnership (which included The Partners, Lambie-Nairn, Addison Group and VBAT). He has led the global relationship with Deloitte for 10 years, and has advised many other world-renowned clients including Ford and the BBC on brand strategy, design and business issues.
