UCD Belfield and Blackrock campuses closed due to weather

Due to worsening weather and underfoot conditions, UCD has closed the campuses at Belfield and Blackrock until Tuesday 12 January for health and safety reasons.

The campuses will be closed to vehicular access and external visitors from 2pm (Belfield) and 5pm (Blackrock), Saturday 9 January.

Staff have been asked not to enter the campus except for essential academic or operational activity. The situation will be kept under review and if required a decision to remain closed for longer will be taken on Monday.

This is an exam-marking week and academic staff who need to collect papers from the campus will be able to access buildings by contacting the First Response Centre at Belfield House on 7161200.

While student residences will remain open, students are advised to delay their return until Tuesday if possible and to check the UCD website for updates.

Essential research activity will continue and the UCD Veterinary Hospital will remain open.

  • As exams were conducted just before Christmas, there are no classes scheduled for next week
  • The campus libraries are closed
  • Administration offices are closed on Monday
  • UCD Sports Centre is closed
  • UCD Oakmount Creche will be closed
  • Academic offices can be accessed in order to collect papers or essential work
  • Research areas controlled by swipe cards/keys can be accessed by relevant staff
  • Decisions re opening of AIB bank and campus franchises will be made by their operators
  • Building contractors may access their sites and make their own decisions in relation to work
  • UCD Veterinary Hospital will remain open
  • The N11 gate will be open. All other gates will be closed to vehicles
