What will I study?

In your first three years you will study both business and law equally, and learn how these two disciplines interrelate. 

In the business area you will learn how a business operates, its role in society and all about the various functions such as accounting, marketing, management and economics.

Your law studies will have a commercial focus alongside important modules about legislation in the area of constitutional law, criminal offences and contract formation.

In final year, according to your preference and career plans, you can choose to specialise in Business or Law.

Students choosing to focus more on the business side in their subject choice can pursue careers in corporate finance, management, accountancy or business analysis, with many graduates pursuing entrepreneurial pathways. BBL students can select the modules necessary for legal professional recognition, which allows them to go on to qualify as a solicitor or barrister, and work in legal practices in Ireland or abroad. You’ll attend lectures and tutorials, in addition to engaging in study and preparatory work. 

Note: The intensive nature of the BBL degree means that you will not have time to take extra modules as part of UCD Horizons.
