Jack Kavanagh

Jack Kavanagh

Dr Jack Kavanagh is a Research Assistant working on the HEA North-South Research project, ‘Our Shared Built Military Heritage: The online mapping, inventorying and recording of the Army Barracks of Ireland, 1690-1921' at University College Dublin. He is also an occasional lecturer at the Department of History at Maynooth University. He holds a B.A. in History from NUI Galway, an M.Phil in Public History and Cultural Heritage from Trinity College Dublin and recently completed his PhD in Maynooth University. Prior to joining UCD, Dr Kavanagh completed his second year as Historian-in-Residence for Leitrim County Council, coordinating the commemorative programme in county Leitrim for the Leitrim Library Service. Dr. Kavanagh’s research focused upon the development of the Irish National Army during the Irish civil war and the spatial relationships between military recruitment and deployment.
