Maria Falina

Maria Falina

Dr Falina is an IRC Postdoctoral Fellow at UCD’s Centre for War Studies. She holds a PhD in Comparative History of Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe from the Central European University, Budapest (2011). Before coming to UCD, Dr Falia has held guest lectureships at the CEU and at Moscow State University.

In 2007/08 she has been a fellow at the Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte (IEG) in Mainz. Her main fields of research are modern and contemporary European history, Eastern Europe, Nationalism and Religious Studies. She has published extensively on the history of political thought in East Central Europe and on the history of religion and nationalism in former Yugoslavia. Dr Falina is currently working on a comparative history of religious communities and conflict in Yugoslavia in the first half of the 20th century.
