Dr. Oonagh Griffin is a Senior Pancreatic Cancer Dietitian at St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) in Dublin, Ireland. She has been leading the specialist dietetic service for pancreatic cancer patients at the National Surgical Centre for Pancreatic Cancer since 2011.
In addition to her clinical role, Oonagh is an Adjunct Associate Professor at University College Dublin (UCD), where she conducts post-doctoral research focusing on nutrition in cancer care. She completed her PhD at Trinity College Dublin, supported by a Health Research Board Research Training Fellowship. She is Principal Investigator on the FEED Trial.
Oonagh has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed significantly to the field of oncology dietetics, particularly in the management of pancreatic cancer. Her research includes clinical studies on body composition changes during chemotherapy, nutritional interventions for cancer cachexia, and strategies to improve patient outcomes through tailored dietary care. She is actively involved in clinical research trials, helping to integrate nutrition assessment and intervention into oncology care pathways.
Recognized for her excellence in leadership, mentorship, and research, Oonagh received the Coaching, Mentoring, Research, Education, and Training Award at the inaugural St. Vincent’s University Hospital Staff Recognition Awards in 2023. She is Past-President of the Pancreatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (2024) and was the first Irish woman to be nominated and elected to the role.
