As part of Catchments 2025 Anne and Denis travelled the country meeting communities to celebrate the incredible waterways of Ireland. The artists organised riverside walks, STEM, art and writing workshops on 7 different waterways, reaching out to many different people with the aim of welcoming as many people as possible into important conversations surrounding water quality and biodiversity loss along our beautiful waterways.

During Science Week (10-14 November) they are organising showcase events including screenings and project presentations in Limerick, Wicklow, South County Dublin, and Meath, and a week of events in Limerick including an exhibition.

For the Science Week events, Earth Institute members (opens in a new window)Mary Kelly-Quinn (School of Biology & Environmental Science) features in a film shot in the Wicklow mountains where she does a kick sample and finds a very rare Mayfly nymph that is a climate indicator. Marcin Penk (School of Biology & Environmental Science) appears in the film from South Dublin where he compares samples from 2 Dodder riverlets that are just a few metres from each other. A third film features Jonathan Turner (School of Geograhy), reflecting on the geological and historical forces that formed the Boyne.
