Bike Week 13th – 21st May 2023 It’s a breeze What is Bike Week? Bike Week aims to increase the use of bikes and overall awareness of bike safety. It celebrates what biking can offer society and the individual and hopes to reimagine our commuting and travel options. EVENTS Monday 15th – Wednesday 17th 10:00-16.00 UCD Bikes, next to Belfield House Try Before You Buy Have you tried an electric bike, road, cargo or tricycle? Are you planning to buy a baby car seat or a trailer, but you don't know each one? If you like to have the experience first to make up your mind, this is your chance! 10 spaces per day. Tuesday 16th 12:00 UCD Bikes Cycle Tour, UCD to Dun Laoghaire Port (1 hour on the way/1 hour in port/1 hour return) Join us for a cycle and a coffee on this cycle tour starting from UCD Bikes. Wednesday 17th All Day National Bike to Work Day Why not consider cycling to work today. The potential benefits of cycling are hard to deny, so what are you waiting for? Get those tires pumped up, hop on and give it a try! 11:00 – 14:30 Free Bike Tune Up Is your bike in need of some fine tuning? Have your entire bike adjusted for free, in addition to receiving super tips on how to make it even better! Book your spot on Eventbrite. Thursday 18th 11:00-14:30 UCD Bikes Bike Clinic Complete servicing including the replacement of any part that is needed, be it tyre, cassette, chain, brake and everything else, for half price! 12:30-14:00 UCD Bikes Bike Maintenance Class Repairing your bike might seem intimidating at first, but once you have the basics down it can empower you to get the most out of your bicycle. This bike maintenance class is perfect for people who want to perform small repairs, repair punctures or tune their gears or borrow one from UCD Bikes! Tea, coffee and sandwiches provided. Saturday 20th 11:00-13:00 Blackrock Park, at the T-junction of the N31 Disco Cycle Please arrive 10 minutes early to soak up the disco vibes. Climate Ambassador event. USEFUL APPS MOBY – the Dublin electric bike share scheme – is perfect for a quick connection from Heuston Station, with pick up and drop off stations at both ends of the journey! BLEEPER has a 100km² operating area across Dublin, and bikes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. HOW TO LOCK YOUR BIKE Choose a good quality lock. Cable and wire locks are far less effective than a good quality hardend steel U-lock or D-lock.
