Bursar update - 29th August 2025

It is great to see that over 4,000 of UCD staff have used Workday so far.

We continue to receive positive feedback on the Workday support desks in our six largest buildings. Thank you for the courtesy you have shown to the individuals on the desks. Some of the feedback we are receiving is that many of you don't have the time to read our supporting guidance documents. The system is complex and I strongly recommend that you use our  training resources ((opens in a new window)here) and knowledge base ((opens in a new window)here) before attending the desks, to ensure that we can resolve your queries as quickly and efficiently as possible. We need your help on this to help reduce waiting times on outstanding queries, which are likely to grow as we enter our busy period.

Many of you have expressed frustration at the level of detail you are being asked to include in your expense claims. For example, when travelling you are asked to provide details of mileage in addition to the type of vehicle used for each leg of your trip. This is due to the enhanced revenue reporting guidelines introduced in 2024 along with the legal obligations that all public sector bodies have to report to the sustainable energy authority of Ireland. This is standard across all public sector bodies in Ireland. For further information on our reporting obligations please refer to (opens in a new window)M&R for Public Bodies | Public Sector | SEAI.

Many of you have asked for extra support around cost centre reporting and budget checks in Workday. We have released a training video for cost centres (opens in a new window)here, and for project budget checks (opens in a new window)here. We will be rolling out reporting training sessions in the coming week which you will be able to access via our booking centre

We are still dealing with some technical and data issues which are affecting a small number of payments and also the accuracy of a small number of cost codes. We are working on these issues and hope to report some positive news in the near future.

Thanks,

David
