Joana Amorim

Joana is a PhD student in the Freeman Lab. She earned a BSc in Health Sciences from the University of Lisbon in 2020 and an MSc in Biomedical Research from NOVA Medical School, Lisbon, in 2022. Her research experience has focused on the development, characterization, and functionalization of polymeric and gold nanoparticles for targeting solid tumors in both 2D and 3D models.

Joana’s current research centers on developing a multi-tissue platform modelling lung metastasis to interrogate the presence and role osteosarcoma-derived secreted factors play in the formation of the pre-metastatic niche. This work is supported by the EU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme (Grant Number META-CHIP, N°101118002).
