John Tomaney is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning in the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. Previously he was Henry Daysh Professor of Regional Development and Director of the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS), Newcastle University. Although based in a School of Planning, he is very much a geographer with interests in ideas of place, regions and governance. He is currently involved in a number of research projects with colleagues across the globe and, in particular, is working on issues of governance in megacities. This project entitled “What is Governed” involves colleagues from Paris, Mexico and Sao Paolo.
